I get multiple pages of blank or nosensical caracters when I open an attatchment to an e-mail.
How can I solve this problem. I am using Lycos as my E-mail provider.

Install the proper viewer application for whatever the attachment is..

If it is a Word document - have Word.
If an excel spreadsheet, have excel.
If a PDF, have Acrobat Reader.

Greetings --

You have to open the attachment using an application that's
specific designed to handle the type of file you've received. Ask the
sender what program was used to create the file, and then install it,
or something compatible, on your PC.

Your E-mail provider is irrelevant. What's relevant is the
program you're trying to open the attachment with. It needs to be
an appropriate program for the file type it is. You're almost
certainly trying to do something like open a Microsoft Word
document with Notepad.
