opening attachements in windows mail

Cannot open any attached document that comes through to windows mail. Cannot
save them either.
Did Uncheck the option "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that
could potentially be a virus."
No result,
even unabled Norton antivirus..

Any other solutions for this problem, it would be so much nicer if
attachments do open in windowsmail.

Uninstall Norton
 
Any error message?
Instead of just disabling Norton antivirus, uninstall it completely.
The same for any third party firewall.
