I get this message when trying to start Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 and Dreamweaver
will not start. My version of opengl32.dll is 691KB dated 11/2/2006. I am
running Vista 32 bit version. Any ideas? I have tried everything Adobe
suggested, like running their CS3Clean Script which invokes the Windows
Installer CleanUp Utility, and like re-installing in Selective Startup mode.
Thanks, Frank

I ran SFC and got the message that opengl32.dll is corrupt. I looked on my
install disk but do not see a replacement. Also, I do not know how to get
privs to move, rename, or delete the file. Only the "Trusted Installer" can.
How do I get privs and where to I find a replacement file? Thanks, Frank

That should be contained within your graphics card drivers. Try removing
and reinstalling the drivers for your graphics card. Before doing so, check
the card manufacturer's website to make sure you have the latest Vista
compatible drivers for your card.

Thank you Michael. I contacted the video HannsG who had provided the monitor
and install disk. They informed me that I should not have installed the
software they sent, that the monitor is plug and play. At their instruction,
I un-installed the monitor, and, while the monitor still works fine,
opengl32.dll is still in my directory, still showing up corrupt, and still
keeping Dreamweaver from running. I don't know how to get sufficient priv.
to delete or rename it - I have tried at every file level and not been
allowed. Any additional thoughts? Thanks for your help. - Frank

Did you get the latest drivers for your graphics card? I'm assuming from
your question you are still having the same problem with Dreamweaver. While
you may have talked to Adobe tech support, Adobe also has some pretty good
forums at their website. You can find a link to their forums under Support
near the top of the home page. These are user to user forums but they are
pretty good at dealing with issues.

My graphics card is an ATI Radeon X1300 Pro - no updates available. I
posted on the Adobe website and got nothing. My problem seems to be with
opengl32.dll about which Adobe does not seem to know anything. If I rename
it, I can see if it is necessary for anything, but I don't know how to be
able to change anything in the Windows directory. All my efforts to find a
way to have sufficient privileges have not worked. What do you think of this
strategy? How do I get Vista to allow me to rename the file? Where might I
find a more current version of the file? I don't dare mess with the graphics
setup because I'm afraid I will no longer be able to see anything. Thanks
for your help. - Frank

I wouldn't change anything in the Windows directory. Do you have a restore
point that can take you back to a time prior to when you installed the
monitor software as that appears to be when your problem began? If you can
get back to such a point, that might resolve the issue. Start\All
Programs\Accessories\System Tools\System Restore. If you are going to use
this feature which is meant to only restore settings and registry, as a
precaution, your data should always be well backed up.

The monitor might have and an opengl32.dll but I don't think Vista would
have allowed it to be installed or otherwise replace something installed by
your graphics card driver installation. The best thing to set things right,
I would think, absent the above, would be to remove and reinstall your
drivers which should restore that dll. Windows has a generic VGA driver
which it installs when other drivers are removed and it is temporary until
you install the proper drivers for your card. According to the ATI site,
there are drivers datet August 13, available for your card, are those the
drivers you have?
