Open With . . . problem

Can anyone tell me why a program (in this case Macromedia Dreamweaver 4)
doesn't appear in the "Open With..." dialog box along with all the other
Macromedia products? The program appears properly in Add/Remove Programs.
Of course I can navigate to it every time I want it but I don't it every
time since I also use another application to open these files sometimes. I
don't want to associate the file type with Dreamweaver, I just want to
easily choose one or the other from Open With . . .

Is there any way to "force" (probably a bad choice of words) a program to
appear in the Open With window in a case like this? Or fix something that's
missing?

Many months ago I downloaded and installed a trial version of Macromedia's
new Dreamweaver MX, and after the trial time expired and it quit working I
went back to using DW4. I can see that neither DW 4 or DW MX appears in the
Open With dialog box. So perhaps it's a Macromedia problem?

If you want to alter the registry, you can change the MRUList so that your
desired program is listed.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.TXT\OpenWithList

That is the place where program names are kept for .txt files. You need
to find your own extension there then open it up to see the whole OpenWith list.
Compare what you see listed in the MRUList (aebdc or something like that)
with the order that is listed in the context menu. You'll probably find the
first four entries are listed in the menu. You need to move your desired
program into one of the first 4 positions. If you put it first, it will be the
top one listed in the menu, etc...

As with any registry adjustments, be sure you know what to change, and
it would be best to make a backup of the registry before you alter it.
