Open windows close automatically after a few seconds

Hello,
I just restored windows XP Pro on a Dell Dimenstions
4600. We also installed Symantec Norton Internet
Security 2004. Shortly after that we noticed the
following:
1- if you open a window, it will close automatically
after a few seconds
2- When this system is connected to our network it
crashes our Internet access on all the computers. I
reformated and installed twice with the same results.
Other things we installed were all the junk software that
comes with this Dell (customer wanted it). Please help

Have you checked with Symantec? It appears this problem is a result of
installing their software so the first place to check would be the Symantec
website, www.symantec.com and/or with their tech support.

That said, the problem may well be the software that came with the Dell, it
is not unusual for such OEM software to cause problems and conflicts. Have
you tried running without that software to see if you have the same issue
and also try running with that software but without the Symantec software to
see if you have the same issue. In that way, you can isolate whether it is
the Symantec software or the Dell software that is causing the problem.
