Open registry to a default key

Sometimes I open regedit and it opens with all keys and hives collapsed.
Sometimes it opens to a key I've visited before. I haven't been able to find
any switches or help via a command prompt.

How can I open the registry to a specific key?

Thanks for any help or suggestions!

A good place to inject another, "Thanks Jerold!" :)

OP If you use regedit.exe and want to "open to a key specified on
the commandline" there is a small utility, regjump.exe, on this
page http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/source/misc.shtml

Some 3rd-party editors can do this natively.

As to "Sometimes I open regedit and it opens with ..."
I will venture to guess that some software on your system that
clears "usage tracks" is resetting the value stored for
regedit.exe. SpyBot Search & Destroy is one such candidate for
this behavior.
