Open New Window in IE maximized

T

Tomaz Macus

Hy.
I cannot open a new IE window maximized. I have tried the strach procedure
and it works, but i want the window to be maximized, as if i'd clicked the
maximize button. It worked fine till the day, that i messed with Google and
selected the setting for opening the search results in new windows. Thanks
for the tip.

Hi,

While you mention that you have tried the strech proceedure, please confirm
it as follows:

Close all programs, and all instances of Internet Explorer.

Open a single instance of Internet Explorer.

*Do not* click on the maximize button. Rather, click and drag the lower right
corner of the window to the appropriate size. You may need to move the window
(click and drag the program head-bar).

Once you have resized the window as appropriate, exit that instance of Internet
Explorer.

Future instances of IE should open at the size of that last window. This should
really correct your problem.

However, if this does not correct the problem, please reply back to this thread,

Thanks!

Altrus

Hello,

yes this is all true and it works. But i want the new windows to open
maximised - as if you would click the maximise icon (aligned to all borders
of the screen and to the taskbar) - I don't want it to be streched to the
maximum size? I'm I clear? If it is possible.

Thanks for the effort.

You're clear.
Not possible.

I'm with Tomaz. It's very annoying. I'm an MCP and an MSDST. I know my way
around a computer. Why Microsoft continues to annoy this way, I just don't
know. When I open IE on this computer (W2K, IE 6 SP1), the first window is
maximized. If I press Ctrl+N, a new identical window opens maximized. But
if I right-click and choose Open in New Window, it's small. Only on this
computer. I hate that. And Microsoft does not seem to offer a way to fix
it. Oh, we can work around it. Stretch a window to the edges of the screen,
but we can't get a real maximized window out of it.

Dead link, Jimbo. This one looks good (though I'd be hesitant to download
anything from such a site):

Howzit? I'm pretty pleased with IEMaximizer here.

Huh! Works fine for me, Bear. That's the site link, not a download link,
though. Here's the direct download link from that page:
http://www.southbaypc.com/download/assetup.exe ?? I kinda like it (I've
used it since IE4) because it works for any window with several different ID
modes, not just for IE, and I've found that useful over the years.

Link worked fine a few minutes later. Even links to www.soutbaypc.com on
other download sites weren't working there for a while. Tsunami?

IEMaximizer works on OE, too, and just about everything else. I'd imagine
they're very similar utilities.
