open IE, says i am offline when im not

I'm on a local lan, broadband always connected cable modem. going through a
router. in the last 2 days if i leave IE closed a while and don't use it for
a while, then come and open it to go places online it says i am offline, try
again or work offline. click try again and it works. anyone know what is the
problem? never did this for months up till now and i made no changes
anywhere.

win xp pro sp1 all updates.

Sounds like the Router is closing you down after a set time
check to see if its renewing your DHCP
and check your client lease time

it's not the router, i think IE is corrupt, so how do you re instal IE?
