Open Function Hangs Appl (Word,Excel)

After installing 6 updates received automaticlly from Microsoft, the Open
Function in Word and Excel began failling. After entering Word/Excel I
selected File then Open. The Open screen was displayed showing all the file
folders available. I double clicked on the one I wanted to make it available
for selecting the document I desired and the application Hung-up. To get out
I clicked on the "X" and the task ended or I went to the task manager which
indicated the the Applicaion was "Not Responding". I did a system restore to
prior to the updates and the problem went away. However, I received the same
updates the next day which automaticlly installed when I shut down my
machine. The problem is now back and restoring to a previous restore point
does not fix it. The module info is (APPname: WINWORD.EXE szAPPVER:
10.0.6775.5 szMODName: HungAPP) Does anyone have any suggestions?

Download Q918165_HP_Fix.reg below and save to Desktop. Right-click the file
and then choose Merge. Restart Windows for the changes to take effect.

Not long after posting my Message I found the reply from Larry Samuels to
Unforgettable providing the fix to the Security Update MS06-015 (update
908531).
