When I open Word (or access/excell) and click on 'Open File', the 'My Docs'
window opens instead of 'Word Folders' and I have to click on 'Word' again
before the 'Word Folder' opens.
How can I get the 'Word Folders' window to open straightaway?

For 2003 and prior go to Tools, Options, File Locations and modify the
Location for "Documents".
For Excel, Tools, Options, General, modify the "Default File Location".
For Access, sorry never used it, but hopefully this will very similar.
For 2007 instructions will be different but the intent the same.

Hope this helps

Why not simply let My Documents be the place where you keep your
documents? You can put as many folders inside it as you'd like.

How do you know that Word Folders isn't a subfolder of My Documents? I have
a Word Documents subfolder in My Documents, and it is set as the default
starting folder for Word. Similarly, I have folders for Excel, FrontPage,
etc., and all are set to start in their appropriate folders.
