When you Right-click on a group of files and they are of a different type
(for example one powerpoint and one Word file), you cannot open them. In XP
you could right-click and select open and they would all open in their
respective applications. It there a way to fix this in Vista?

Try pressing Enter on the keyboard which is much quicker.

Enter also only works when files of the same type are selected. If you
select a word and an excel file, enter does nothing. I am a teacher and have
eight files per student -- all of different types (needs different
applications). It really is a pain to open each type seperately. Any other
ideas?

I may not have been clear. It is only when you are selecting multiple files
of different types. One file or multiple files of the same type work fine.
