open a jpg file attached to an email - application not found

i try to open a jpg - jpeg file from outlook and i get the message
application not found WHILE windows do open the same image when saved on my
desktop! (therefore nothing to do with folder options-->file types etc)

Does anybody know how i can fix this?

try emptying the internet temp files - you can do it from IE's tools,
options menu.

didn't work!!!!!!
if i go to folder options and change the program to open files of this type,
say nero photosnap viewer, then it works. but i need to open them with the
windows picture and fax viewer! By the way does anybody know where this exe
is located? (windows picture and fax viewer)
