Opacity

I want some photos to appear along with the background image. I'm
hoping for abuta 50% opacity. So I want the background and to blead
through the photo. Any suggestions.

What version of PowerPoint?

If you create an autoshape and use the fill with picture, than you can set
the transparency via the format => autoshape => fill => transparency => 50%
