Oops-somehow burned photos to cd in read-only format--how do I open them?? Help

Somehow when I backed up my digital photo files to cd, they were saved as
read-only, and now I cannot move them, copy them or anything. Everytime I
try, I get some type of access denied message. ( I burned another cd with
pictures, and that one came out fine) I had Windows ME when I burned the cds,
but now have XP, not sure if that makes a difference. I have tried changing
the file attributes, and removing the read-only, but that doesn't help.
Thanks for any ideas you can give me!

Thx so much for the quick reply! Only prob now is....when I try to open
files with Infran, I get an error message about my files---says "unknown file
format" or unknown file header.....any ideas or is this a lost cause? Thanks!

use IrfanView to do a batch opening of the files and saving them to a folder
on your hard drive.... it'll only need to read the files, not copy or move
them...

if the files are a proprietary format, you might have to open them on the
disc with the software that created it... and save them to someplace else
one by one, or as a batch if it supports it.
