only windows classic view option

I recently did a large windows update on my new computer
with windows xp and after I rebooted my windows would
only display the "Windows Classic" theme. I went to
Display properties and the Theme drop down only
had "Windows Classic" as an option. How can I get
the "Windows XP" theme to come back?
