Only some shares are accessible on local network !?!?!?

Desktop is Windows 2000; shares established for my user folder and for
the DVD drive, with full permissions given to group EVERYONE on both.
Now enter my new Vista Home Basic notebook, connected via wireless
router. From the notebook I can access the desktop DVD drive and read
files from a DVD. But I can't access the desktop user folder at all:
"\\DESKTOP\Mike is not accessible. You might not have permission to
use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to
find out if you have access permissions. Access is denied."

Any idea what could be different between these two shares?

Solved: I had to set the NTFS permissions on my user folder to allow
Authenticated Users to read/write.
