Outlook 2003. User creates a shortcut to a network folder on their desktop. Then tries to attach a file from that folder and this message appears below.

"Only files or objects can be attachments. L:\xyz is a folder and cannot be attached.

I appreciate any ideas or suggestions

how are they attaching it? Are they sure they are attaching the actual file
and not the folder? Does it work if they don't try to access the file view
the desktop shortcut?

Hello,

thanks for the response.

They click on the paper clip icon in Outlook to attach a file or go to insert then click on file, they then browse to the desktop and click on the folder to open it and that is when the message appears. It never actually opens the folder. I have also performed these steps for them and have verified the error.

Also, if you try and attach it straight from the network drive it works fine.

thanks
