Only can select GMT as a time zone - want to select EST

D

Dodgy

Recently re-installed Window XP.

I can alter the time and date to be correct.

However, I can only select GMT as my time zone. I am in EST and hence my
application and emails are incorrect (as it seems that they read my time zone
setting - not the altered time and date).

How can I get Windows to recognize EST instead of GMT - OR - get all the
time zones so that I can select the one that is right for me (EST)?

Thank you for reading this question.

Select Start, Control Panel, Date and Time, Time Zone. Click on the Scroll
bar above the World Map, select your Time Zone and then click on Apply and
OK. Restart your computer and check that it has worked.

Gerry,

Thank you for your response!

I have been able to find and scroll the world map, but my problem is that
when I "scroll" the only thing I can see or choose is GMT times. I would like
to "fix"my computer so I can see and select an EST time.

Any ideas?

Thanks again.

I am in EST, the Atlanta, GA area.

In the drop down above the map choose (GMT-5:00) Eastern Time... and
Apply. It should change and stick. I don't think a restart is
required. If your zone observes DST like me, check that box before
applying.

My map "moves" if I choose something way out of time, but I don't see
anything highlighted in the map - could be my display, but I don't
care. All the times are GMT + or - something or another. You can
read about GMT in Wikipedia!

Thank you to everyone for your advice!

It turns out that the quickest fix was the advice from Jose.

Thanks again!
