I have checked and rechecked all the cables, nic cards which are all the same D-links this seems to be an XP issue?? is it?? the computer is a year old dell and this is the first time I have had anything not work. what can I do??

I assume that you set up Internet Connection Sharing on the main
computer. When you do that, you tell it which network connection to
use for the other computers, and you can only choose one connection.

Here are two ways to get both of the other computers on the Internet:

1. Disable ICS, create a network bridge between the two NIC cards, and
re-enable ICS. If it asks what connection to use for the local
network, tell it to use the network bridge. See this site for more
information:

XP ICS - Network Bridge

2. Get a hub or switch, connect it to one of the main computer's NIC
cards, and connect the other two computers to it. You won't need the
second NIC card. You can connect computer to the hub or switch in
either of these ways:

a. Crossover Ethernet cable to uplink port.
b. Regular Ethernet cable to regular port.
