OneNote 2003 and IE Tools

Running Vista.

In Tools, when I click on "Send to OneNote" it automatically wants to send
it to OneNote 2007. I have a registered version of OneNote 2003 installed
(works fine!), which I intend to keep.

How and where can I change this to select the right version?

OneNote 2003 should have added an icon to your IE toolbar. It need to be
added to the menu if it does not appear already. But, the menu item should
do the same action. Why is it pointing to OneNote 2007? Did you install
it?

I did not install 2007; I did the 2003 version on this computer.

Where would I change this? It's on the Toolbar, but it goes to the 2007
version. It's also on the bottom taskbar, and that one is linked to the
right one. But then I can never just send things over, so it doesn't do much
good there.

What makes you think it is trying to access the 2007 version?

Have you tried reinstalling OneNote 2003? It should fix anything that the
possible later installation of Office 2007 might have broken.

I think Synapse Syndrome is on the right track (as usual) ... if the button
is trying to go to OneNote 2007, then OneNote 2007 must have been present on
the machine, at some stage.

if it is a new machine, maybe it had a trial version of Office 2007
pre-installed (this is very common).

I would try uninstalling all versions of OneNote you have installed, and
then re-install OneNote 2003.

If you get really stuck, try asking in microsoft.public.onenote. There are
more OneNote gurus over there.

I am not sure if send to ie is part of OneNote 2003 but instead is a
PowerToy you can download at

I should have explained that this computer came with a trial version of
Office 2007. I have not opened it because then you need to get a product
code and all that jazz...plus it's only good for 60 days (I think), so what's
the point? I have no intention to buy it. I didn't want to activate
anything SPECIFICALLY because I knew I would be reinstalling the 2003 OneNote
on here. Lotta good that did me! LOL

When I click on "Send to OneNote", the message is "You have not activated
Office 2007 - would you like to do so now?" And when I click no, that's the
end of that!

And yes, you can send things over with 2003 - did it all the time on my
other computer.

Thanks anyway - but please let me know if you can think of something to fix
this!

As Andrew said - try uninstalling OneNote 2007. You might as well uninstall
the whole of Office 2007, if you are not going to be buying a license for
it. Then uninstall and reinstall OneNote 2003. Running the installer and
choosing Repair might be sufficient.

I just realized something - I haven't "enabled" Office 2007 on this computer
as I wasn't going to buy it - I'm using OpenOffice for all my needs and love
it! - and OneNote, whether purchased as a stand-alone product or not, won't
do that without the umbrella of an Office product. What do you think?

I wonder if I DO enable the trial version, and then let it lapse, whether it
will automatically take away the "send to" option. I think I'll try it, and
then reinstall my OneNote 2003, and see what gives with this.

And yes, originally, the "send to" was a PowerToy - but what's available now
needs a valid registered office product before it will even download. I just
tried it!

An update: Installed Office XP - tried to use the "send to" option, and it
tells me that the destination is outdated (or the equivalent of, not the
exact words), and I have to open Office 2007.

That makes me mad. That is absolutely planned so we all have to update.

This will be my last MS operating system, no matter what. I have old
software, some of it 8 years old, which run perfectly on Vista. There's no
reason for this option in ON 2003 to not work.
