OneCare, Vista Ultimate and the Internet

Ok, so I had installed Vista Ultimate a few weeks ago (have since gone back
to XP Pro, but want to go back to Vista). One of the biggest frustrations I
had with OC and Vista was that every time I rebooted for an update or
installing new software, once Vista came up my internet connection would be
dead.

I would have to physically turn off my firewall in OC, disable/enable my
internet connection to connect to my router, then re-enable the firewall
again.

Anyone else having this issue, or know how to fix it? I know I had to
change my registry just to get Vista to connect to the internet through my
router, so figured I would ask around here to see if there's such a simple
fix available.

Thanks!

I have no such problems with Ultimate with doing updates from dial-up or
wireless connection on the hotel's LAN.

What kind of router are you using? If you're using a packet filtering FW
router, then why are you using a FW behind the router? If you got to use
something behind the router, then why not use something less intrusive like
IPsec? It's on Vista too.

What changes are you talking about? And yes, you might have to change some
sittings.

I wasn't talking about the updates themselves, I was saying that whenever I
had to reboot, upon booting the issue was that I would have to disable the fw
in OC to get an internet connection, then re-enable it once connected.

I don't believe my router is fw'ed, it's a linksys wrtp54g. I've always
just let OC manage the fw on my computer.
