Thanks for that post....I will continue to use the Vista Firewall until the
problem is fixed with One Care. I did upgrade from XP to Vista and had the
latest OneCare installed.

Please make sure you post in the forums when this is fixed? Are we talking
days, weeks, or months?

Thanks again...

I know that the team immediately jumped into action to investigate the issue as
soon as the "fix" of adding the protocols appeared on the forums and I forwarded
it to them. I can't say when a solution will be provided, but can state that as
soon as one is available, an announcement will be posted as many people have
encountered the problem. I suspect that the OneCare support lines were hit with
many calls and emails on this, too.

Oh. Thanks.

Not at all. Those messages indicate that OneCare has communicated with the
back
end server and either pulled new signatures, rules, or program updates, or
has
found none to be available that are newer than what is on the PC.

this can be resolved by uninstalling onecare and reinstalling from the
website. there is the option to activate after you install the demo.
This demo version has all the updates. What have you got to lose

The trick for me at least was uninstalling OneCare 1.5, then downloading the
trial version, installing it, and then activating my account again.

From what the MS person said, it's occuring with those who had version 1.5
before they upgraded to Vista.

Maybe this'll help someone else who isn't inclined to wait til MS gets
around to a fix.

Stephen - Can you confirm which is the better route? Uninstalling /
Re-Installing OneCareLive or using Vista Firewall and disabling OnceCareLive
Firewall until a fix is released?

Uninstalling, using the OneCare cleanup utility
http://download.microsoft.com/download/4/c/b/4cb845e7-1076-437b-852a-7842a8ab13c8/OneCareCleanUp.exe,
and then reinstalling from http://onecare.live.com seems to resolve the problem
for just about everyone who has tried it and reported back in the OneCare
forums.
I don't know if I would call it a better solution - more of a "hit it with a
hammer" solution, but it would elminate the need for a hybrid situation of
OneCare with the Vista firewall. I have not heard anything more from the team
since the weekend about the status of the problem, so it could be a while longer
before the actual root cause is identified and a fix provided.

Is this problem related to the problem I am having connecting to Windows
Update. I keep getting the following error message when I try to go to the
update site:
error(s) 8024402C When I click on the link for this nothing works.

No. If you can access the Internet, this isn't your problem.
See if this link can help: http://www.updatexp.com/0x8024402c.html
