one user side not working

Windows XP home edition. Two users as administrators. One
user can only get to desktop but no start button or task
bar icons are displayed. I tried to open my computer but
it cannot be found. clicking Alt,control,delete shows no
applications running and the processes show explorer.exe
at 99% of CPU. Most desktop icons just hang. I can switch
to other user with Windows and l key. Tried many restarts
and shutdowns to no avail. Need direction.

Sounds as though it might be a virus. If you can't open your antivirus
software making sure it is fully updated, you might try a scan from that
user account at the following website:

http://housecall.antivirus.com/explorer.html
