One Outlook account can't connect to server; others can

I'm running Outlook 2002 under Windows XP Pro. One of my
Outlook accounts can't connect to the outgoing POP3 mail
server (Comcast) anymore.

It was working fine he other day, and the other accounts
currently work fine. None of the settings have changed.

All Comcast could suggest was to backup the account,
delete it and build it again; that didn't help. Comcast
doesn't support the full Outlook product; only Outlook
Express.

Thanks in advance for any help you might offer!

It can't send mail or can't receive it? (POP is receiving mail, SMTP is
sending mail.)

Do you need to authenticate with Comcast to send? What error is in the
send/receive task window?

Diane;
Thanks for the quick reply! The error shows up during
any attempted "Send/Recieve". The account was fully
configured and has been reciving & sending numerous e-
mails fine until now, including test messages from the
other accounts.

The errors come in pairs, that say "Unable to commect to
the incoming mail server (POP3)" & "Unable to connect to
the outgoing mail server (SMTP)". Both say to verify
port & SSL settings, which I did; both are set to
defaults.

V/R,
Charles

Ok - it's not connecting to either incoming or outgoing. Triple check for a
typo in the username, server, and password dialogs. Set up the account in OE
to see if that works.

Now it's working fine! I was just about to do as you
suggested...although it would've been a QUADRUPLE-check
on the account parameters!

I didn't change ANYTHING...it just started working
again. As if some secret mystic logjam had been cleared.

Thanks anyway, though...it was comforting to know I
wasn't completely on my own.

Cheers,
