An annoying thing has happened on my new XP(2) install. Every time I click
on a *.txt or *.exe or *.pdf file it automatically opens it.

I have tried in explorer > tools > folder options setting it to "double
click to open", but it still wont stop it.

Does anyone have a regstry solution or indeed anything to fix the problem.

Some setting in the registry needs to be 'toggled' on and off to get you
back to the classic behavior you want. I suggest changing from what it is
now (I assume doubleclick) to the other (single?) Apply, restart Windows,
set it back, and apply, and restart again, to test for the desired result..
