on board sound question, soundmax

I have a P4P800 deluxe with soundmax audio solution.
The docs say it has 'digital sound' which, as far as
I know, means the three colored sound outputs
output a digital signal which can be decoded by
an external sound processor (AC3)into 6 seperate
analog sound channels. But when I run the
speaker wizard, it only refers to analog sound.
That is, it shows the mapping of the six channels
from the board to the six analog speakers, like one
would have for AC3 sound. This, of course, puts the outputs in the
analog domain. I can't find any reference or
explanation in the docs to configing the mobo to put out
digital sound.
How does one config this mobo to output a digital sound
signal, useable by a AC3 sound decoder?

If you want digital sound output you either have to use the SPDIF socket on
the back (looks like a yellow RCA connector) or buy a seperate bracket for
your mobo with the SPDIF interface.
