Omnipage doesn't recognize bold

OmniPage 15, Canon N650U USB scanner.
Scanning from book to PDF is very good - but it's
almost as if it doesn't even try to correctly format
bold characters (always shows up as normal).

It handles underline and italics well, though.

I did find this Nuance KB article:
http://knowledgebase.nuance.com/view.asp?tnID=488&sQuery=bold
which only suggests that you fix it manually in the
text editor. The trouble is that doing so can start to
cause paragraphs to wrap, but I need the absoulte positions
of the text to stay put.

Any suggestions? Are there any scanner settings that might
help? Do people usually get bold text to be recognized
as such by their OCR software?

Thanks

Scanner settings do not effect text fonts, as long as the scan is of a
sufficient quality, the OCR program will perform its job.

To read the Help in Omnipage, start Omnipage from the Start Menu. You do not
have to scan a document to read the Help.

Have you read in the Omnipage Help about training. You can turn on the
training and save the training results for Omnipage to apply to the same
type of documents.

In Omnipage on the main menu, Help>Help Topics. On the index tab, type
training. When you hi-light Training and click Display, there are several
subjects you should read.

Also in Help, Search tab, type bold, check out SG true page.

Try ABBYY. They have a trial copy in their website. As soon as I
tried it, I placed my OmniPage in the dumpster.
