I can't believe this ... I have had NO PROBLEMS, then all of a sudden today,
I CANNOT SEND ANY EMAILS OUT.

I am not getting any error messages ... I typed an email to myself and even
responded to someone's email ... only to get it posted in the OUTBOX and
never get sent!

What happened? CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME .... PLEASE!!!

Thanks

Most likely you have been screwed by lousy antivirus software
like Norton or McAfee which acts like a sleeper or mole* in that
it suddenly waked up to undermine your system after a period
of apparently benign residency.

Uninstall the traitor entirely and install a volunteer (free) patriot
such as AVG or Avast http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

note. You should omit the email scanning component
http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

Then you can tackle the email stuck in the outbox with this
counter terrorist device http://www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/Default.aspx
providing you follow the instructions, particularly those highlit by
the red army... Oops... I mean box!

* see "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" - John le Carré

Try this free utility to clear your Outbox:

NOTE: Read and follow the instruction, especially the ones in the RED box.

OOH-RAHHH ..... IT WORKED!!!!

You the Guru!!! SPREAD THE WORD! There is light at the end of the tunnel!

Dr. Steve Cochran wrote Wmutil and his site should be bookmarked
by all Outlook Express and Windows Mail users...

Providing you don't use Norton of McAfee anti virus suites
and do configure email clients in accordance with your ISP's
instructions it's unlikely you'll have any problems with email
inherent to Windows XP or Vista.

Anyone who says different is a liar, moron,. or both.

I've been experiencing this problem for a few weeks with my relatively new HP
w/Windows Vista Home Premium, but have yet to find a fix. However, the
problem may have led to a more serious problem, according to Geek @ AT&T.
Suddenly, I'm unable to send mail, and have discovered nearly 20 messages
stuck in my out box. Of greatest concern, help seems very evasive! Good luck,
Gunny!

Download and install this fix, with Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works
in other folders. If you don't know whether to use the 32-bit version
or the 64-bit version, try the 32-bit version first. Certain common
antivirus programs, such as most of those from Norton or McAfee,
or a recent one from Trend, tend to cause such problems, although
seldom immediately, so if you have such a program, remember
where to find the fix - you are likely to need it again.

You may need to delete the oldest message in the Outbox after
applying the fix, if it still won't send.

Try this Microsoft fix:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090
"Messages may be stuck in the Outbox when you use Windows Mail on a computer
that is running Windows Vista"

It works on other folders in addition to the Outbox.
