Omega drivers and Fast Writes

Hi all, does anyone know if the Omega drivers disable FWs by design for
whatever reason or are they enabled and not showing as such via traditional
means, as when I run WCPUID, it shows FWs as off but SBA as on. FTR I do
have FW enabled in BIOS though I should say that if I turn it off in the
BIOS I usually get via WCPUID that SBA is on and FW off(as expected) but I'm
still not clear as to why SBA comes on in this instance, can the two
coexist? Thanks to all for clarifications on all of this,

Omega has always recommended that fastwrite is always switched off for
Radeon cards.

Never had a problem with them here, nor has there ever been a wide scale
issue with them. I think it's more a case of the operator having a screw
loose in the head.

wastwrites off except of XT version of cards. For XT it has to be turned on.
Try to read readme or whatever the description file for Omega drivers is
called.
I use only Omaga drivers with no problems. I had a problem only when
I used softmod for 9700->9800 which is disabled in latest version Omega
catalyst 4.2

Like Julian says, and I've never understood why they do this. I've been
using Fastwrites for ~ 3 years now, at first on a GF4-4600, then on a
9700, and currently on a 9800 Pro, and I've never had a problem with it.

The "operator" is a MCSE Tech and Systems Administrator.

Omega drivers are "tweaked" drivers, ones that fiddle with settings in your
registry and drivers, settings that the manufacturer generally recommends
that you leave alone, as they were never meant to be messed with, and can
cause instability with some systems. For example the Gigabyte Titan
GA-8IPE1000 I use which does not like the Omega tweaks on ATI or nVidia
cards, but works fine (for the most part) with every other driver, including
some other tweaked drivers that don't take the risks that the Omegas do.

Oh, look, a h(idebehindanonymity)otmail poster...I knew I should have
ignored that post.

Wrong DD, do I smell jalousy there....

Omega makes fine drivers... to bad for you though that nvidai ****ed
it up with the omega driver maker that he declines to make new drivers
for nvidia cards...not?

Ah, such is life....

I thought that it was the case that Radeon cards don't benefit from
fastwrites and thus they might as well be off and reduce the number of
things to cause a problem.

If they work, they work. If they don't, then you have to use the
official ones. I've never had any problems. I went to Omegas when I
couldn't get my card to work under the official drivers. As it was,
the card proved to be faulty.

For all I know, he says he turns them off to avoid problems.

Except for 9600XT which must keep them on according to Omega site.
