What's New? (2k/XP 2.5.67)

* Based on the official Catalyst 4.8 drivers.

* Added support for some new Radeon cards.

* Fixed a few laptop bugs (but still unsure about the video playback
problem).

* Optimized the current OGL driver for D3, it should improve performance
with
no loss in quality.

* Optimized FSAA performance for both D3D and OGL.

* Updated Radlinker to version 1.013

* Updated ATITool to version 0.0.21

* Updated Multires to version 1.47

* Updated the DX Control Panel to Dx9.0c

Happy Updating.

I just stated using an X800 Pro with my new system (A64 3400+/1 gig
DDR400 3200/200gig SATA/etc.) and was wondering why Some people swear by
Catalysts and others for Omegas. Are these drivers custom built
specifically catering to overclocking and gaming? Would it be worth
switching to Omega drivers?

Dunno, but one reason to use Omega drivers is with those Radeon cards
what can softupgrade to next level. Like a 9700 SE to 9700 Pro etc.
Reader have to notice now, that only few cards can softupgrade this way.

The Omega drivers are optimized in terms of gaming compatibility,
performance and overall visual quality. I've been using them for well
over a year now and I've never installed an original catalyst since
then... O/C'ing is a breeze because of the integrated RadClocker. You
should really give them a try.

His own site is a bit crowded today because of the new release.
Driverheaven.net has them and they do offer the updated release which is
only 16.7 meg large despite what their d/l-site states.

If you do upgrade from a catalyst driver please read the installation
guide regarding the removal of the control panel carefully! And don't
install any other tools for your ATI-card after you installed the
omegas. They will offer you anything you'll probably ever need in one
package...

HTH.

Well, the only trouble I have seen with these drivers is that the Overdrive
tab for my Radeon X800 Pro is suddenly gone. Is there a way to restore it,
or did Omega leave it out of the release on purpose?
