Hi All.

I would like to embed a MapInfo OLE object into a PPT, so that users can
scroll on and stuff to look at local details, but i can't assume that the
target people will have anything particular installed on their PCs.

The PPT will be run off a CD, does anyone know if it's possible to reference
an OCX file in a relative kind of way so that this can be done?

Thanks in advance

Regards,

B

OCXs normally need to be registered on the target system, don't they?
If so, that'd preclude this from working w/o at least running regserver on the
OCX; and if regserver's got any brains, it won't let you register a file that
resides on removable media. That seems like a recipe for trouble.

Can the OCX be hosted on a web page instead? Perhaps you could do that then
embed the web page in PPT using Shyam's Live Web addin (http://skp.mvps.org)

Thanks, Steve.

I'm beginning to think it's not do-able. I can make no assumptions
(including internet access) about the target machines.

I'll just have to create a series of jpgs and have the presenters insert the
most appropriate one prior to each local presentation.

Thanks

A shame, but something along those lines does sound like the most reliable method.
Or to make it even simpler for the presenters, give them ready-made slides of all
the images and let them hide the ones they don't need (or hide them all and explain
how to UN hide the ones they do want.
