Old Win 95 Game

I have, or rather my father has an old Win 95 game (Congo descent into zinj)
he really loved but never got to finished because our win 95 computer died;
we have over 5 computers in our house now, all on one version of xp or
another, and none will play it. It says it sucessfully installs but then
freezes on a black screen when you try to run it.
I have tried running the installation exe in compatibility, as well as the
program exe itself; I've tried running it from dos; I've tried copying the
whole cd contents onto the hard drive and making everything compatible and
then running the installer from the hard drive- Same Result. What Can I Do?
Always happy to live and learn,

List of stuff to try - in order...

Right click the .EXE file in the program files after installing it, select
properties, select compatability, and set it to be 95 comp. I realize you
said you did so but could you triple check and make sure that it was for 95?
You might want to go ahead and tweak it - there's a LOT that CAN be done
with this but that's a lot of overwhelming information so we'll skip that
for now.

(That's a good article)

Finally there's a small learning curve but if you were able to find here you
can configure it (and then make a shortcut and make sure it works and
explain it if you're father's not computer savy) with this application. This
will give you DOS emulation and is by far the most likely to work solution.

Thank you both, seems they've killed my link since I was there last... It
was a good link too. Ah well, thanks for pointing the OP to the correct one.
