old programs

can i run some of my old 16 bit programs in windows xp
pro.if so, can someone tell me how.

Many will run without doing anything special. Others may run if
you run them in compatibility mode. Some may not run at all.

If you would identify the specific programs you're concerned
with, you may find people here with specific experience who can
provide individual answers for them.

It depends if they are well behaved - if they are, you just run them in
the ordinary way, by d-clicking the .exe file.

They will not run if the need any special code loaded through config.sys
or autoexec.bat or if they try to access hardware directly, or through
an old 16 bit driver loaded in system.ini. For example a 16 bit program
of the Laplink type, through parallel port, will not work..
