old HDD?

Hi

I am building a new machine with new motherboard,
processor & RAM, but want to use existing HDD which was
running XP Home.

Can I simply build the machine and plug in the old HDD and
it will boot into XP or are some of the (registry?)
settings specific to the old computer's setup?

Could this throw up any other problems?

You will likely have to do a repair install.

Further: If this is an OEM copy of winxp, the installation 'may be locked'
to yr origonal hardware, which would mean you having to buy a retail
version.
