Old hd ---> new hd

I'm considering giving away my 40 gb hd and getting a 80 gb.

Is it possible to transfer all the contents from the 40 to the 80, and
then replace the 40 with the 80?
How?

Thanks
Pete

Just create images of the partitions of the 40GB using Norton Ghost and
restore those partitions on the 80 GB.

Hi Pete

I have done exactly this with the software supplied on the disc that came
with the retail version of the drive. Both Maxtor and Western Digital have
programs on the CD or floppy that came with the drives. You can hook up the
new drive to the computer. Boot from the supplied disc be it CD or floppy.
The setup program will find the drives, then you can transfer the contents
of the old disc to the new one.

You can download the programs from the manufacturers site if you don't have
the retail version of the drive. Good luck.
