Old floppy formatting under XP

How do I format a 720kb floppy under WinXP? It only gives me the
1.44Mb option even when a 720kb disk previously formatted under Win98
is present.

It seems you can't unless your floppy drive manufacturer provides their own driver to do this. See: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q309623

That's a bit like the cart before the horse.
First, MS has to come out with a three-mode fix so you can format a normal
1.44 on XP without it spitting the dummy.
