Within the past few months, possibly since I installed Service Pack 2 onto XP
Pro, the following error message appears when loading an old MS-DOS (c. 2000)
based CD-ROM:
"C:\Windows\System\Autoexec.nt The system file is not suitable for running
MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the
application"
I have conducted a web search and there are suggestions on using Notepad to
amend autoexec.nt, config.nt etc. Although after following the instructions
the CD-ROM now begins to load, it is quickly followed by a general protection
fault and crashes out. I therefore may not have seen the correct amendments
to these files but seem to be heading in the right direction. Does anyone
have the url of the correct web site that will correct this problem? If so,
I'd be very grateful.
Thanks in anticipation.
