old background appear for 3 seconds

When I started Win2K an old background appear for 3 or 4 seconds and
disapear and after taht I saw the background I select.

Is there a way to correct that, I would like to see only the background I
choose event if it appearing for 3 seconds.

Turn OFF Active Desktop, the r-click desktop, select properties, Set the
Background to None, apply, Ok, now you can turn Active destop back on.

Easy fix, right click on the desktop, select "Properties" and, under
the background tab, select NONE and click on "Apply". Now select the
background you want, click on "Apply" and then "OK".

Problem solved, BUT every time you change background you must select
NONE again and apply it, then select the new background.
