OL2003: Paperclip but no attachment

Often I receive messages that show a paperclip signifying an attachment, but
no attachment is visible in the preview pane or upon opening the message.
Any ideas on what is causing this, and how to stop it? TIA

Did you try clicking on the paperclip itself? It will not appear in the
preview pane since it is an attachment. Open the message first then click on
paperclip.

Thanks. Unfortunately, the paper clip does not appear in the message, only
as an icon in the list view.
