OL2003 -> Exchange 5.5

I have an old Exchange 5.5 server that serves as my email server, and I
recently added a few Outlook 2003 clients. When installing OL2003, for some
reason it defaults to moving the user's messages and folders off of the
server. Obviously, this is causing problems for users who use OWA, or IMAP
to access their mail while travelling.

Can anyone point me to a web resource describing how to safely move these
user's mail and folders back to the server, and also how to avoid this
behaviour when installing OL2003 in the future?

TIA,

JM

Just like previous versions of Outlook, make sure that the default delivery
location is not set to a Personal Folders (PST) file.

Thanks, neo. It is, actually. So, how can I safely move these messages and
folders back to the server? And how can I prevent OL2003 from doing this on
future installs? It seems to do it by default.

yes for the first question.

the second is entirely dependent on how the outlook profile is setup (manual
vs. automation). for example, my site uses a custom outlook preference file
that was designed in the Custom Install Wizard. This means a new user
logging on the first time gets an exchange profile created for them
automatically and removes the human element.
