OL2003 & Auto Reply

I've got a client who is POP3 to their ISP. They want to
know if OL2003 has built-in capabilities to auto-reply to
e-mail messages when they're out of the office. Is there
anyway to do this? I wouldn't think so since there has to
be a client/server rule implemented like in an Exchange
environment but I thought I'd run it by you guru's before
telling them no.

check with your ISP. Many provide an option for out-of-office (oof) replys.
Otherwise do it in Outlook (Tools > Out of Office Assistant)

Thanks Kevin. Can you tell me that if it's done in OL
alone, will it need to be up/running and checking mail
while that person is gone? That is of course if the ISP
doesn't provide such a service. I know of OoO replies but
not enough in the manner of how it works without an
Exchange Server hosting the mailbox/domain.

if you're not running Exchange, yes, Outlook would need to be running in
order to generate the Out-of-Office reply.
Most ISP's do offer OOO options; I user Verizon and they do.
