OL2003 and Windows Messenger

I'm playing around with Outlook 2003.

I notice that whenever Outlook loads, Windows Messenger loads also. (I
already removed it as a Windows XP feature. If I try to close it, I
get a message that Outlook "needs" it.

How can I get rid of this annoyance?

Tools>Options>Other. Uncheck "Enable the Person Names Smart Tag" at the
bottom.

Thank you kind sir. I =thought= I did it already but on re-checking
found that I missed it.
