OL XP and IMAP: Rules Wizard and Message Download

M

Michael Stender

Hello,
I am using Outlook XP (SP2) on an IMAP server. I would like to use the rules
wizard to distribute new mails to separate IMAP folders, based on contents
in the mail header (e.g. the Sender). We are using a junk-mail filter, which
tags potential junk in the mail header. Currently Outlook always downloads
the complete message, before distributing the mail. As I am connected
through a dialup connection, I would like to prevent the downloading. Is it
possible to configure this? Does the use of the rules wizard always imply
downloading the complete (=including attachments) message?
Any hints are greatly appreciated, TIA
- Michael

Thank you for the information!
Unfortunately I am having a new problem now:
After deselecting all rules in the rules wizard, Outlook still downloads all
messages in my inbox, although I have set to only download the headers (in
the option dialog for send-receive-groups). How do I get back to the default
IMAP behaviour of only downloading message headers?

TIA
- Michael

Yes, the Rules Wizard operates only on messages that have been downloaded,
not on message headers.

I would probably try building a new send/receive group. Sometimes that's easier than trying to adjust an existing one.
