OL 2003 - where's the original .pst?

Peter G

I'm trying to use the briefcase for all files (contacts, personal folders)
Outlook on machine A to Laptop Machine B - I've done it for years with with
OL2000 but 2003 is giving me problems.

If I copy the Outlook.pst to a briefcase then open that on machine B I have
2 personal folders with mail going to the wrong one - I seem to remember
deleting the original .pst before and then OL booted to the Briefcase
version - but can't find it in 2003 - can anyone help...?

It sounds like the problem is that you need to point Outlook at the
Briefcase location since it will not automatically look there. Once you
have the .pst file copied to the Briefcase you need to:
1. Open Outlook.
2. Go to File -> Open -> Outlook Data File.
3. Browse to the location of the file in the Briefcase and click OK.
Now we need to make the Briefcase file the default and remove the old file
out of Outlook.
4. Go to Tools -> E-mail Accounts.
5. Click on "View or change existing e-mail accounts" and click Next.
6. Under "Deliver new e-mail to the following location:" click the drop
down arrow and select the Personal Folder that is not currently selected.
7. Click Finish.
8. Close Outlook.
9. Restart Outlook.
Now simply right click on the old Personal Folder and select Close.

I hope this information is helpful.
