OL 2003 downloads full message in IMAP

My OL2003 downloads the entire message in IMAP account even when I set it up to download header only. Is there a way to fix that?

When does it download? How do you know?

It is set to check for new messages every few minutes, and when it does it
downloads all messages, including some heavy ones (1,2,5 mb).

It should download only those folders to which you've subscribed and then
only if you have the option enabled to download the entire message.

IMAP in Outlook has always been , in my opinion, a neglected stepchild.

Exactly, it is set up to download headers only, not the entire message.
