OK-WHY won't Disk Cleanup work?

I've scoured the posts. I've deleted the temp items. I don't seem to have a
virus. I click on disk cleanup, select the drive I want and guess what.
Nothing happens. It's as if I never requested anything. Is my computer
ignoring me?
