So I am a kind of novice. I have 2 computers one running
winxp and the other win2k3. I also have an internet
connection (cable). So how to network them?

thanks in advance

once you get a router, wired or wireless, then you can
run the network wizard and it should do it for you.

if you onlye want to network both of them use a crossover cable and setup
proxy server on one to go out to the internet. analogx.com has a free proxy
server that works fine for this purpose.

I have an ethernet hub.

You can use a hub (or cross-over cable) to connect the two computers. And ICS
to share the internet service.

But - If you have broadband, and 2 computers, connecting the two computers with
a router is the responsible solution.

All computers will be safer. The router will block any malevolent internet
traffic. This further protects the internet, from your becoming infected and
spreading the infection.

All computers will run better, with the router blocking the trash infection
traffic.

All computers will run independent of each other. Right now, if you have
internet connectivity on multiple computers, either you are paying your ISP for
multiple connections (a waste of $$$), or you have to have one computer on
whenever you wish to access the internet from any other. With a router, neither
is true.

If you can afford to have more then one computer, and broadband, you can afford
a router. For many reasons.

Cheers,
Chuck
