offline files trouble...

replaced old windows 2000 server (\\Michael)
with new windows 2003 server (\\chccserv01), and i have a windows xp pro
machine continuing to try and synch with the old server. i have deleted all
files and folders on the local xp pro machine and have turned off the offline
files feature on xp pro. i have rebooted and reconfigured the xp machine and
continually, no matter what i do, i receive the "you are currently working
offline \\Michael" message when i log in to the domain. when i log out, all
files and folders successfully sync with \\chccserv01 (the new server). when
i uncheck the server \\Michael from the status window and say okay, it
appears as though the process for knocking this setting out is complete. as
soon as i check the status window again, though - the server \\Michael is
right back there. what gives? this is driving me nuts trying to make this
work!

Have you tried going into the folder options menu and on the offline files
tab hit the ctrl + shft key to clear the offline files cache. This might
work. I have also found that if you can't see this tab that going to the
disk cleanup utility and deleting them there seems to get rid of them for
good.

yeah, i've cleared all those files out. i've done everything i can think of
- the local machine just doesn't want to give up that connection to the old
server so it always tells me i'm working offline. in my offline files folder
on the local machine all the files cached have paths pointing to their new
directories on the new server. the it's just bothersome to me because my
client would like to have that cleared up and i just can't seem to make it go
away... killin' me!
