Offline files issue

I have a problem where Offline Files won't stay "turned on"
on my laptop. It seems that when I fire it up at home and want
to work on the cached file from the server - no go. And here is
the weird problem - offline files won't stay "enabled." When this
happens I go to My Computer -> Tools -> Folder Options -> Offline
Files tab. There is the problem - the box to "enable" Offline Files
is no longer checked. It simply won't stay enabled on this laptop.
Checking the box again starts everything working correctly but it
surely isn't supposed to work this way....

Any help is greatly appreciated!
