offline files behaviour

Since last nights backup one of our users reconnected her laptop to the
network, presumably updating the server with those files she had changed
while at home. Since then I have had to restore our data drive from backup,
which appears to have replaced the files in her offline cache with the older
versions.

I understood the offline files function to use the modified date to
determine which version of the file was most recent, and therefore which copy
to change. Why would the restored file on the server, with an older date
stamp, replace the newer version on the laptop?

Please tell us what this has to do with Windows XP Setup/Deployment.

I'm impressed you managed to load such a short reply with so much sarcasm.

I was unsure which group to post the question in, and a search indicated
that most questions regarding Offline Files were in this one. In addition to
this Offline Files is configured on the client, not the server, and as such
is entirely connected with Windows setup and deployment!

Anyone else have a more useful response? My problem is a genuine one.
Alternatively if you could suggest a more suitable place for it to be posted,
rather than just using your time to be clever?
